Contrary to popular belief, sharks are not attracted to human blood. Hospital patients need your blood though! That’s why the American Red Cross has teamed up with Discovery and Shark Week this month to help avoid frequent summer blood shortages.

The Red Cross sees about a 21% decline in blood and platelet donations during holiday weeks, including Independence Day. When blood donations drop, so does the blood supply, making it extremely challenging to ensure blood is available when hospitals need it. Dive in to help by scheduling your blood donation.
