If you have what it takes to be a disaster responder, join us at Red Cross Disaster Boot Camp
Do you have what it takes to be an American Red Cross volunteer disaster responder? The Red Cross Northern New England Region is offering a fast-track boot camp for individuals interested in being part of our humanitarian mission. This in-person training will be held at the Northern New England Regional Headquarters in Concord, New Hampshire and we are asking for a 2-1/2 day commitment from all who register. Attendees will receive training in the fundamentals of damage assessment, sheltering and caring for clients in the aftermath of disasters such as fire or hurricanes. If you are a good listener with compassion to share this training could be right for you.:

Norm Gentry is a graduate of Red Cross Disaster Boot Camp Training and has been a disaster response volunteer with the Red Cross for the past two years.
“I retired from the IT field in 2020 but knew I
had knowledge, expertise and energy to share,” said Norm Gentry. “I had some
knowledge of Red Cross disaster response through my work as a volunteer
firefighter so, when I saw the ad for a Disaster Boot Camp I was interested.
The work has been so rewarding – I was looking for something to do and I found
another career. I highly recommend this Disaster Boot Camp to anyone looking
for a rewarding way to stay involved and give back.”
“Volunteers comprise more than 90% of the Red Cross disaster workforce,” said Frank Grima, Northern New Hampshire Red Cross Disaster Program Manager. “Following large scale disasters like Hurricane Ian, the Red Cross depends on pre-trained volunteers to travel to the disaster zone to help people in need. Disaster response volunteers are essential to fulfilling our humanitarian mission.”
